We are all familiar with the phrase, ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away.’
With back to school just around the corner, one doctor is suggesting that using probiotics to boost your child’s immune system may be an ideal option.
With classrooms full of germs, Dr. Brenda Watson suggests adding more probiotics to your child’s diet.
“That is the friendly bacteria that lives in the digestive tract,” Watson said.
So what are good sources for probiotics?
“Certainly yogurt does have some, but the problem with yogurt is a lot of parents are giving it to kids when it has sugar in it,” Watson added.
She recommends getting a child’s probiotic formula, as a strong digestive system can promote a strong immune system.
“During this cold and flu season, the friendly bacteria that their digestive systems are being enhanced by, actually surround and negate any type of pathogenic bacteria or virus,” Watson said.
