What’s behind that terrible stench?

PITT MEADOWS (NEWS1130) – You may have noticed a terrible smell in parts of Surrey, Langley and Maple Ridge.
Ray Robb with Metro Vancouver says they have received hundreds of complaints from people about a terrible stench. He says the source has been pinpointed to a farm in Pitt Meadows, adjacent to the airport.
“[The farmer] took some manure that had been sitting around for an awfully long time and had gone anaerobic. They then spread the manure on the field,” explains Robb.
He says the farmer is now done applying the manure.
“The farmer right now is tilling it into the ground and it will cover up some of the manure with soil, so that will lessen the odor, as well as the cooler temperatures.”
Robb notes something similarly stinky happened five years ago in Ladner.
