Cancer patient beat up and robbed for his dinner

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – Langley RCMP is trying to track down a group of teens after a cancer patient confined to a wheelchair was robbed and beaten on a walking trail last month.

Mounties say it appears the five teens were after the man’s chicken dinner.

Corporal Holly Marks says the victim received a black eye, cuts and bruises; he even needed stitches after he was smashed over the head with his own cane.

“And in addition, there was a cyclist that assisted the victim, and while we are very thankful for that, he left the area and we are hoping he will be able to give us more information about the attack,” notes Marks.

The victim was found lying in a dried-up fish pond behind WC Blair pool.

“It is my understanding that he is healing up nicely and resting at home,” adds Marks.

RCMP describe the suspects as between 11 and 16 years of age; four were white and one was East Indian.

None of the suspects were known to the victim.
