Celine Dion, Arcade Fire to headline show for daughter of shooting victim

MONTREAL – Celine Dion and Arcade Fire will headline a benefit concert in support of the young daughter of a man killed during Quebec’s election-night shooting.

The show will take place this coming Monday at the Metropolis — the club where Denis Blanchette was fatally shot on Sept. 4.

The 48-year-old lighting technician was killed instantly when he was struck by a single bullet at the Parti Quebecois’ election-night rally. Another worker was wounded by the same bullet.

A man arrested in connection with the incident is to reappear in court on Oct. 11.

Richard Henry Bain faces 16 charges, including first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and arson.

Tickets for the concert range from $80 to $175, with the money going to a trust fund for Blanchette’s daughter.

Organizers say funds will also be collected for Dave Courage, the other man hit by the bullet.
