Hockey bags stuffed with cocaine found in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – Two hockey bags full of cocaine have been discovered in a ditch in Langley.  The drugs were found following a tip from an anonymous caller.

Mounties say the call came in on Thursday around 7:30 a.m.  The person told officers they saw a van pull up with three people inside and then leave three hockey bags along 8th Avenue near 272nd Street.

Police found only two bags when they got there, carrying a total of 21 bricks of cocaine.  They estimate the street value of the drugs are about $500,000.

“This is a substantial seizure that we are happy to have off the streets.  There is no doubt these drugs would have caused significant harm to many people’s lives.  I am hopeful that instead, this seizure will have a positive impact,” says Superintendent Derek Cooke.

The dogs were brought to the scene but the third hockey bag was never found.  Investigators say at this time they do not know who the drugs belong to.
