Today marks five years since Surrey Six killings

SURREY (NEWS1130) – It’s been five years to the day since six people — including innocent victims Chris Mohan, 22, and Ed Schellenberg, 55 — were gunned down in the worst example of gang violence in BC history.

Their bodies were found in a Surrey highrise on October 19, 2007.

Dennis Karbovanec pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder in the case. He is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 15 years.

The rest of the accused — Jamie Bacon, Michael Le, Matthew Johnston and Cody Haevischer — are still waiting to find out when their trial dates will start. The Crown expects that will be sometime next year.

Bacon will be tried separately so that he can bring applications in relation to issues that only deal with him.
