POWELL RIVER (NEWS1130) – Search and rescue crews have found a mother and toddler who went missing while while picking mushrooms yesterday in Powell River.
Police tell us their van was found yesterday in working condition and with a quarter-tank of gas.
RCMP Constable Chris Bakker says temperatures have really dipped and the two were not prepared.
“It’s about four degrees in town at Powell River, but since the elevation is higher and it’s out in the back country, it’s probably around one or two degrees. It’s very forested with peaks and valleys and a big elevation change. It’s a dense forest,” adds Bakker.
The pair was found shortly before noon today.
