BC Supreme Court rules in favour of Francophone students

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Some parents of Francophone students on Vancouver’s west side have won a court victory that focuses on minority language rights.

A BC Supreme Court judge agrees the students don’t have access to the same quality of schools as their Anglophone counterparts.

The parents say some students have long bus rides and crowded classes that mix elementary and high school students.

The Education Ministry is reviewing the decision but the French school board actually welcomes the ruling.
