Massive nationwide raid targets apparent narcotics ring

MONTREAL (NEWS1130) – Close to 1,000 police officers are being deployed in a massive raid against an apparent nationwide narcotics trafficking ring.
Authorities say several searches and arrests are expected in roughly 30 municipalities in Quebec, Ontario and BC.
They say the sweep targets a drug trafficking network linked to organized crime.
Quebec provincial police, Montreal police and RCMP are working together in the investigation.
Investigators say they will release more details about the raid at 2 p.m. (Eastern) at the Quebec provincial police headquarters in Montreal.
