ICBC and its union reach tentative agreement

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – ICBC has reached a tentative deal with its unionized workers.

The agreement includes a modest wage hike and better benefits.

“In recent weeks we have seen a number of days where our customers have been impacted,” says Adam Grossman with ICBC.  “We’ve seen some delays with services and increased wait times, so certainly the strike action coming to an end is good news for our customers.”

Workers are getting a four percent raise, which is being rolled out in one percent increments over the next year.

Cope Local 378 President David Black says maternity and parental leave and workload issues are also addressed. “Members will probably start voting late next week,” Black says.  “We haven’t nailed that down yet, but we want to get that out to the members as quickly as possible.

The last deal expired at the end of March in 2010.

As part of their job action over the last few months, workers have refused to work overtime and there have been a few one-day strikes.

Job action officially comes to an end at 12:01AM on Sunday, November 4th.
