SWIFT CURRENT (NEWS1130) – Two BC men have been sentenced in a Saskatchewan court to lengthy prison terms after pleading guilty to running an international drug smuggling ring.

The operation saw cocaine moved from the US across the Saskatchewan-Montana border, then shipped along the Trans-Canada Highway to BC.

A judge in Swift Current sentenced 25-year-old Brock Ernest Palfrey of Vernon to 18 years on charges that included trafficking and importing cocaine, and trafficking and exporting MDMA or ecstasy. Twenty-six-year old Troy Ernest Swanson of Coldstream was given 11 years after pleading guilty to importing and trafficking cocaine.

Earlier this year, two other BC men in the smuggling ring were also sentenced, including 51-year-old William Bruce Larsen of Coldstream, who got 12 years, and 26-year-old Christopher Mark Chambers of Vernon, who got five years.

Police said they seized over $17 million worth of drugs in 2011, including 367 kilograms of cocaine and 100,000 ecstasy tablets. (CKIZ)
