United States (NEWS1130) – You may experience delays at a couple of border crossings heading back into Canada.
Mike Milne with US Customs and Border Protection says they’re conducting searches of vehicles leaving the United States into Canada today at the Peace Arch and Pacific Highway border crossings.
“We’re looking routinely for people that have warrants against them, people that may be smuggling narcotics, undeclared currency, firearms,” he explains.
Milne says the searches are routine and random. “From time-to-time they’re intelligence-based driven, when we have the resources to conduct outbound operations. It’s basically to keep people on their toes.”
Milne says so far, nothing of importance has been found.
He can’t comment on how long the searches will go on for.
