Another deadly shooting in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS1130) – For the fourth time since Sunday night, a man has been shot dead in Surrey. IHIT has confirmed the victim to be 29 year old Manjinder “Manny” Hairan. There are unconfirmed reports suggest Hairan has been targeted before.

Police received a call about shots being fired on 112B Avenue near 127th Street in Bridgeview early this morning.

“I heard about four loud shots last night and I looked out the window and I saw the body laying there,” a neighbor tells News1130. “It was loud. My windows started to rattle.”

Homicide investigators have been focusing on a walking path between some houses in the area. The victim’s body was found there shortly after 2 a.m.

“It appears to be a targeted, gang-related shooting at this point,” says Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“It’s still very early in the investigation and it’s hard to say what it’s connected to at this point. There have been several homicides in the past few days and we are, I assure you, diligently looking into them.”

On Sunday night, a 27-year-old man was shot dead near 168th Street and 76th Avenue in Surrey.  He was later identified Manjot Dhillon.  Police say it appears he was targeted, as well.

A few hours later, two men were gunned down in a parkade on 128th Street near 96th Avenue. Their identities haven’t been released.

Pound says there doesn’t appear to be a link between the three cases.
