More LifeLabs centres behind picket lines in coming days

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – The LifeLabs strike will not end today; more job action has been announced for tomorrow and Thursday.
Karen Tankard with the BCGEU says the none of the 40 sites behind pickets yesterday and today will be affected during this second round of job action. “The patient service centres, which have been behind a picket line yesterday and today, go back to work tomorrow. It will be business as usual.”
“We are adding six new sites for Wednesday and Thursday. Those sites are in Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, and Duncan,” she adds.
The union has not decided whether it will continue its rotating strikes beyond Thursday.
Lifelabs is one of the province’s two major companies that do lab work for doctors. Talks between the company and the BCGEU broke down last weekend.
