Weak November retail sales in BC

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC had the second-weakest retail sales in the country in November, posting a decline for the second month in a row and going against the national trend.

Statistics Canada says seasonally-adjusted retail sales in this province fell 0.8 per cent from a year earlier, after falling 1.1 per cent in October.

BC’s retailers racked up sales of $5.09 billion in November.

Oil-rich Alberta’s retail sales rose 4.4 per cent and were bigger, in dollar terms, than BC by $800 million, despite that province’s smaller population.

The nationwide gain was 1.4 per cent year-over-year for a total of $39.4 billion.
