Speakers relate drinking driving experiences to students

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) – Lower Mainland high school students will hear from people who’ve been in serious alcohol-related car crashes over the next little while.

Jill Blacklock with ICBC says some of the stories include those responsible for the death of another person.

“It really reminds them that they have a lot of power in making decisions and making sure that they’re safe when they’re behind the wheel of the car or passenger in the car.”

Blacklock says it can be a very sombering experience for the students. “Unfortunately, normally, the experiences are very tragic. There may have a paralysed person, there may someone who killed a friend or a family member.”

The speaker series kicked off in Maple Ridge today — just in time for grad season.
