Shirley Bond says she won’t step down

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s justice minister says she won’t resign because she’s done nothing wrong.

Shirley Bond is being targeted by a fellow Liberal MLA.

The call from BC Liberal MLA Kash Heed is not going far with others in his party; he’s asked Bond and Pat Bell to step aside from Cabinet over their roles in a Prince George project. Bond says she won’t do that.

“I’ve served in public office for almost 20 years in one form or another; I’ve done that with integrity and I’m going to continue to serve my constituents in the best way possible.”

Heed had himself resigned from Cabinet three years ago over an elections materials controvery. Bond says his circumstances were different from hers.

“Nothing wrong has been done. There’s not an RCMP situation, there are no allegations that are being dealt with by any other body, and let’s be clear: the fairness advisor said the procurement process was fair,” she defends.

Yesterday, the premier also dismissed Heed’s call for resignations.
