Canucks games sold out, but Rogers Arena not always full

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’ve been to a Canucks game this year, you’ve probably noticed some empty seats.
The combination of a condensed schedule and the same teams coming to town over and over means there’s less demand for tickets.
If you caught Tuesday night’s snoozer between the Canucks and Blue Jackets, you saw Rogers Arena wasn’t exactly packed. Brokers say they’re having a hard time unloading tickets and sites like Craigslist are littered with seats.
Cindy Graves, executive director of Kids Up Front, says if you can’t get rid of your tickets the next time a team you don’t particulary care to watch is in town, you can give her organization a call.
“We’ll take those unused tickets and we’ll put them into the hands of children and families in need across the Lower Mainland. These kids and families would otherwise not have the opportunity; [they] can’t even imagine going inside Rogers Arena.”
“A lot of them are from the Downtown Eastside, but there’s a lot of need throughout the Lower Mainland. So, for a child to be able to go see their Canucks play — they’ve only seen them on TV before — well, it’s a dream-come-true for them,” says Graves.
Tickets for other sports, shows, or live theatre are also accepted.
