VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police say a charge has been laid in connection with the city’s second homicide of the year back in February.

It’s all related to a daytime street fight.

Matthew John Anthony-Cook was picked up by the VPD at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

A manslaughter charge has been approved by the crown.

Constable Brian Montague says the 27-year-old is linked to the death of 59-year-old Michael Gregory.

“At 10:30 a.m. on February 9th, two men were involved in a fight on Venables Street near Commercial Drive.  When police arrived, we found Mr. Gregory unresponsive and with serious injuries,” Montague explains.

He died in the hospital.

Anthony-Cook is known to police for several offences… he made his first court appearance this morning on this charge.
