Big drop in businesses’ satisfaction with the VPD

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) –  The VPD is trying to figure out why business satisfaction has suffered a big drop; it’s at its lowest level in several years.

The revelation comes in the police department’s annual survey, which shows a 12-point decline in business satisfaction towards police compared to last year.

Police and researchers don’t know why.

Wes Regan of the Hastings Crossing Business Improvement Association is also surprised. He wonders whether it’s the aftermath of the Stanley Cup Riot.

“If there’s a big variable that we thrown in there that maybe has had some impact in the way business is thinking about VPD, that is the only thing that really comes to mind that I could possibly attribute to having any influence in that drop.”

“It could be an echo of some… the perceived way the riots were handled, or something like that,” says Regan.

Meanwhile, satisfaction among Vancouverites has not changed much, recording a two-per cent decline in the past year.
