Temperature records broken this past weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s only spring, but it sure felt like summer this past weekend and many areas around the province broke temperature records.

In the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford passed its past old mark hitting an ice cream-melting 30.1 degrees.  In the capital, Victoria smashed a record that stood since 1953 tipping the mercury at 27.2 degrees, that’s up from 25 degrees.

It may have felt like another planet in Lillooet which got the top marks in the province, coming in at 32.8 degrees.  The old high was set back in 1925.  Records also fell in Port Alberni, Powell River and Nanaimo.

As for the rest of the week, we likely won’t be breaking any more records but the temperatures should remain dry, sunny and holding steady in the low-20s.
