VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Advance voting days for the provincial election start tomorrow and run right through until Saturday.
It’s perfect if you’re not going to be around next Tuesday, or if you just want to get voting out of the way early.
Don Main with Elections BC says you can cast your vote for your local candidate even if you’re not in your riding. “Say you live in Abbotsford but you find yourself in Downtown Vancouver during advance voting; you can actually vote in Downtown Vancouver for your electoral district in Abbotsford.”
Main notes there are other ways to vote as well.
“In fact, anyone can be voting at their district electoral office [from] now until 4 p.m. on General Voting Day. Or they can vote by mail by requesting a ‘vote by mail’ package from the district electoral officer,” he explains, adding the voting card should arrive by mail this week.
You will also need a single piece of ID like a driver’s licence or BCID card. if you don’t have one of those, you can bring two documents showing your name and address.
