US late night hosts take aim at Toronto’s mayor

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Five days later and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford still refuses to talk about a video that some say shows him smoking crack.

That isn’t stopping late shows in the US from making some noise about Ford’s latest controversy.

Jon Stewart, host of the Daily Show, basically called Ford a walking joke. “After repeated instances of this type of behaviour, you have to wonder if this dude is on crack.”

“Don’t judge him! Maybe he’s cleaning up the city by smoking all the crack in it. You’re next prostitution rings!” Stewart added.

Jimmy Kimmel went as far as getting a Ford look-a-like on his show. “Mr. Mayor, are you smoking right now?”

Jay Leno was the most tame. “The good news, he’s still qualified to be the mayor of Washington DC.”

Ford has said the allegations of him smoking crack-cocaine are “ridiculous.”

A crowdsourcing campaign launched by the US gossip website Gawker has raised more than 50 per cent of the $200,000 goal.
