VPD looking for information about recent pharmacy robberies

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver police are trying to get more information about three recent pharmacy robberies.

All three involve masked and armed men, one man would wait in a stolen car while other(s) went inside. The target appears to be cash and prescription drugs.

“The one that happened yesterday, the male that went into store was masked and armed. He did confront some staff there as well as some of the customers that were inside. Two of the customers received minor injuries in a bit of an altercation with this person as well as the pharmacist,” says Constable Brian Montague.

The first occurred in the afternoon of March 5th at the Garlane Pharmacy which is located in Champlain Heights.

The second took place on April 23rd at the Wescana Pharmacy on Fraser Street near 50th Avenue.

The third happened on May 21st at a pharmacy near Fraser Street and 49th Avenue..

Montague says it is still unclear if the three incidents are connected and whether there are more than two suspects. “In all three cases we’ve recovered the stolen car and we are talking to witnesses and canvassing more information.”
