Dix doesn’t address future at provincial council meeting

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An emotional Adrian Dix addressed his party Saturday morning at the NDP’s provincial council meeting.

“This election loss, feels and felt difference,” said Dix during his opening address.

The party leader’s message was clear but his future at the helm is less so. He focussed more on Premier Christy Clark rather than on his own future as NDP leader.

“Right here, right now we start strong and powerful opposition to a government that was re-elected on a plan steeped in duplicity,” says Dix.

He mentioned recent raises given to Provincial Health Authority staff as examples.

“You know, one rule for the premier and one for everyone else,” he said.

Dix said the party will put its full support behind West Kelowna candidate Carole Gordon who will run against Clark in a by-election July 10.

As for his role? “We’ll require an assessment and so that’s the process that will start. It won’t end this weekend,” said Dix during a media scrum after his speech.

“We will make these decisions together leading up to the convention and at the convention with respect to leadership.”

He did shoulder the entire blame for the defeat in the provincial election.
