RCMP receive mock-trophy from Sensible BC campaign

PRINCE RUPERT (NEWS1130) – Mounties have been given a not-so-prestigious award for their crackdown on a business that sells bongs and pipes.

It was handed out by a well-known marijuana enthusiast.

Dana Larsen with the Sensible BC Campaign calls it the ‘Most Wasted Police Time Award’.

Larsen dropped it off at reception at the Prince Rupert detachment after he found out investigators spent six months looking into the business.

“I just gave it to the receptionist at the front. It’s about an eight-inch tall trophy, it’s got a police officer on top, it’s all nicely professionally done. Just having some fun, we wanted to try and draw attention to this colossal waste of police time.”

The RCMP say it had several complaints about the business and officers claim a couple of young people got sick after they bought some kind of substance from the store.

Larsen calls the whole thing ridiculous.
