Sample some of the best at the Canada Cup of Beer tomorrow

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Local breweries bring their best to Swanguard stadium tomorrow for the 11th annual Canada Cup of Beer.

You’ll be able to sample the region’s best craft brews, along with many specialty imports; organizer Rick Mohabir with Just Here for the Beer says it’s a great way to expand your horizons.

“The Canada Cup of Beer is Vancouver’s largest outdoor beer festival. We’re going to have 15 or 16 different vendors on location and everyone is going to bring in three or four different beers,” Mohabir tells News1130.

“It will be a great opportunity for those who love craft beer to come out and try some new and fun and interesting stuff. For those who are relative novices, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon and try everything from international lagers all the way up to some of our great, award-winning BC craft beer.”

Aldergrove’s Dead Frog Brewery has also done up a very special tribute beer for the 2013 Cup.

“Our friends there just did a beer in honour of one of our fallen comrades, Colin Jack, who passed away two years ago. It’s in Colin’s name and all proceeds from that beer go towards a scholarship fund that’s been set up in his name,” says Mohabir.

Jack was a huge supporter of the local craft brew scene, appearing live on the News1130 Morning Show several times. He was also Mohabir’s best friend and business partner.

Jack’s beer will be available for tasting; it is an amber-style ale blended with rum and flavoured with white oak wood chips.

Transit is easy to and from Swanguard, so it is easy to get a safe ride home.
