VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Actor Cory Monteith has died. The Vancouver Police department held a press conference on Saturday night to announce the death.

His body was found in a hotel room at Vancouver’s Pacific Rim Hotel Saturday afternoon. The 31-year-old was the star of Fox’s “Glee”. An autopsy will be done tomorrow to determine the cause of death.

Monteith was born in Calgary but raised in Victoria.

He was in a relationship with his Glee co-star, American actress Lea Michele.

In March, he voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction. He had previously received substance abuse treatment over a decade earlier, when he was 19 years old. He checked out of the rehab facility in April.

Monteith’s publicist Melissa Kates said she is saddened by the news, while the executive producers of “Glee” and Fox said that Monteith was an exceptional talent and a joy to work with, and he will be missed.

Several celebrities are already expressing shock on Twitter. Perez Hilton tweeted “In tears and in shock. My heart aches for the friends and family and fans worldwide of #CoryMonteith. Just numb right now.”
