Man who filmed models nude without consent breaches bail

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – He broke the trust of unsuspecting models, and now an amateur Vancouver photographer admits he also broke the court’s trust.

Crown wants jail time in the case involving a number of women who were recorded naked without their consent.

Matthew Power has already pleaded guilty to 14 charges. But on the verge of being sentenced, he was found to have photographed two other women, albeit with their consent, but not with the court’s.

Crown lawyer Daniel Pruim had earlier been okay with a community sentence, but now wants him in custody for six months.

“I take the position now that the conditional sentence order, the jail sentence served in the community, given that Mr. Power has shown he doesn’t have an ability to abide by court orders, is no longer appropriate,” says Pruim.

Power stood up in court to admit he broke the court’s trust but insist he’s learned his lesson. He’ll be sentenced next week on all his charges.
