Long weekend means long wait times crossing the border

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Be prepared for long waits at the border.

Border agents say this is their second busiest long weekend after Black Friday.

Faith St John with Canada Border Service says the busiest day to come home is Monday, with the lineups at Peace Arch growing much longer after 4pm. “Last year more than 97,000 vehicles entered Canada through one of our five Lower Mainland border crossings over the BC Day long weekend. More than 35,000 of those vehicles came through the Douglas port of entry.”

She says anyone looking to get home quicker should use H-Street to get to Aldergrove or Abbotsford-Huntingdon crossings.
