Second day of negotiations underway at YVR

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – There is still a lot of uncertainty as talks continue between hundreds of unionized workers and the Vancouver Airport Authority.

Job action could begin as early as midnight which means travellers flying in or out of Vancouver could face big delays or even cancellations.

It’s not clear whether progress has been made in the talks though because of a media blackout.

Some have raised concerns in the event of an emergency such as a plane crash or fire. If job action does take place the union will only provide essential services to the airport, however, it is assuring the public if an emergency takes place, full service will be provided.

Earlier this week the union said its main concern is concessions the airport wants to make, particularly around wages for trades people and procedures for contracting out work.

YVR is assuring passengers that if job action does take place, there will be no impact to travellers.
