Legislation combating cyberbullying coming this fall: MacKay

WINNIPEG (NEWS1130) – Justice Minister Peter MacKay says the government will introduce new legislation to fight cyberbullying this fall.

“It’s coming, there will be legislation introduced this fall in the Parliament of Canada, that will be aimed specifically at the issue of cyber bullying.”

He says it will include greater public education and changes to the Criminal Code.

MacKay says the whole nation has been touched by the death of a 15-year-old Saskatchewan boy who was apparently driven to suicide by bullying.

The teen’s mother, Kim Loik, is among those calling for anti-bullying legislation.
