BC home owners to spend far less on renovations than rest of country

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A poll finds two-thirds of respondents plan to renovate their home within the next 12 months.

The poll for Scotiabank also finds the typical respondent plans to spend an average of $8,992.

BC is the province least likely to renovate, at 55 per cent or 10 points below the national average.

British Columbians are also the cheapest renovators, planning to spend $5,700 which is more than $3,000 less than the nationwide figure.

It finds that three out of four renos will be paid for with cash savings.

As ever, bathrooms and kitchens top the list of areas to be fixed up.

The survey says one out of five are to repair damage.
