Coroners Service adjourns inquest into shooting death of former soldier

VANCOUVER – A spokeswoman for the B.C. Coroners Service says the inquest into the police shooting death of a former Canadian soldier has been adjourned until Jan. 27.
Greg Matters was fatally shot in the back by Mounties last September on the rural property he shared with his mother near Prince George.
The coroner’s jury has already heard that Matters was in treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder when R-C-M-P officers came to arrest him for an alleged assault against his brother.
Coroner Barb McLintock says the inquest was scheduled to wrap up this week but the jurors have not yet heard from all the witnesses.
She says the inquest cannot resume next week because some of the lawyers have other commitments.
McLintock says the next time all the parties can get together in Prince George is the end of January.
