TSB on-site of float plane crash near Port McNeil

PORT MCNEIL (NEWS1130) – The Transportation Safety Board will be spending the day at the site of a float plane crash southeast of Port McNeil looking for witnesses after three people were killed yesterday.

Glen Friesen with the TSB says they’ll also likely ask questions about what the weather was like at the time of the crash.

“The weather information is something that we can follow up [on] later on, but the priority today [for crews] is to get into the accident site and collect what information they can get there,” he tells us.

Friesen says Potts Lagoon is a secluded area.

“I’m not sure what the working conditions will be like at the site. Communications coverage sound like a potential problem for us. We may or may not get further information throughout the day,” he notes.

The Cessna 185 float plan crashed shortly before noon yesterday; there were no survivors.
