COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – He may have lost his bid for a seat in Legislature in the Provincial Election this past May, but Olympic Wrestler Chris Wilson will be serving on Coquitlam City Council.

He and Bonita Zarrillo were elected to two city hall seats left empty when counselors Linda Reimer and Selina Robinson left to become MLAs.

Wilson picked up nearly 26 per cent of the votes in Saturday’s by-election with 3826 votes, and Zarillo got just under 18 per cent with 2648 people casting their ballots for her.

Zarrillo narrowly beat out competitor Doug MacDonnell who brought in 2109 votes.
