Sunny October good for golfers

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The weather may be starting to go downhill around these parts, but the month of October was a hole in one for some local golf courses.

Brent Gough with the Vancouver Golf Club says halfway through October they reached the typical number of rounds played — so the rest of the month was just a bonus.

“A lot of our members, like me, are more fair-weather and plan on moving down to the warm weather in California by late October,” he says.

The fog we experienced recently in Metro Vancouver did cause some delays for players teeing off, but Gough says they’ll take fog over rain any day.

He adds VGC and most other courses expect a huge drop-off in play this month, but Gough explains there is a lot of technology and gear out there that lets people play in normal Vancouver weather – wind and rain.
