Two-day BC business conference starts today in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The first-ever Business Council of BC‘s business summit goes today and tomorrow in Vancouver.

Council CEO Greg D’Avignon says the point of the conference is to help BC remain relevant in the worldwide economy.

“The world has become more competitive since the recession in 2008-09 and we’re competing with countries all around the world to attract investment capital that leads to creating jobs,” he explains.

“I think the key message is we have great opportunity in British Columbia, but we never punch above our weight and we need to start working more collaboratively, more effectively, and more competitively if we’re going to maintain the kind of lifestyle we want.”

Premier Christy Clark will deliver the keynote address at this afternoon.
