Another company launches its latest video game console

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Last week it was PlayStation 4. Today it’s the Xbox One that’s being launched eight years after the last version.

The midnight release of the Microsoft video game console prompted about a hundred people to stand in line in front of the Best Buy on Cambie Street.

For many, it’s the second time in a week they’ve stood in line to get a top-of-the-line console.

“I was actually here last week for the PlayStation 4 launch, so I was prepared for this,” said the first person in line, who got there at 7 a.m. Thursday.

“There was a launch last week for another console. I wasn’t a big fan of the PlayStation 4, so I have high hopes for Xbox One,” said another man in line.

And what does Xbox One have that PS4 doesn’t?

“I actually like the controllers for the Xbox. They are bigger, and my hands don’t cramp up like with the smaller PlayStation controllers,” said one eager consumer.

“I like the Xbox controllers more than the PlayStation controllers,” echoed another man.

And like the lineup last week for the PlayStation 4, there were few women in the crowd.

One mom was there for her school-aged son.

“I can put a lock on the plug-in. I saw it on Facebook and I think it’s a good idea,” she said when asked if she was concerned her son might spend too much time at the console.

Lucky for them, the launch lands on a Pro-D day.
