VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Finance Minister Mike de Jong says he’ll give British Columbians an update on the province’s books later today.
De Jong’s report on the second quarter will include an up-to-date blueprint of the province’s finances, including revenue numbers and budget projections for the current fiscal year ending March 31st, 2014.
He has already downgraded the government’s budget surplus forecast of $197 million to $136 million.
The Opposition New Democrats say Liberal plans for a debt-free BC appear to have fallen apart now that the province’s debt is projected to increase to more than $62 billion from $56 billion.
