Don Cherry unsure about future

By

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Don Cherry says he has no idea if he will have a job after the end of the current NHL season.

Cherry’s future is in doubt after Rogers signed a $5.2-billion deal to televise NHL games across Canada for the next 12 years.

As part of the deal, “Hockey Night in Canada” will remain on the CBC for at least the next four years, although Rogers — not the CBC — will have editorial control over the program.

Cherry says he has no idea if that means “Coach’s Corner” will no longer be a part of program starting next season.

A question mark also hangs over the future of his sidekick, Ron MacLean.

Rogers president Keith Pelley says it’s too early to talk about the future of Cherry and others involved in “Hockey Night in Canada.”
