ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Chief Constable “Santa” is out with Christmas greetings to criminals in Abbotsford again urging them to change their lives around in 2014.
Last year, the cards featured a heavily-armed Santa. This time around, Santa is being scolded by Mrs. Claus as he writes out the lines “I will not play with guns” on a blackboard.
Constable Ian MacDonald says around 80 greetings have been sent, and there could be more in the coming days.
“Inside the card, the message and the intention is the same: To challenge people who are not making good choices with their lives. Prolific property offenders, people who are engaged in domestic violence and gangs and drugs to make better choices… to give them an option to reach out for help.”
Last year, he says a few people did come forward. “But I guess the jury is still out until we see how people approach the card and what their opinions are.”
This year, the department would like to emphasize that “even Santa makes mistakes.”
