ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A homeless camp is on the move again in Abbotsford.
Dozens of people are taking pieces of a tent city in Jubilee Park to a parking lot across the street on private property, where huge eight-foot plywood walls have been erected around a new camp.
“It almost looks like a fort that you’d build as a kid, except a lot bigger. They’ve got four walls [and] doorways with tarps that can cover it,” describes News1130’s Grant Sigaty.
“There’s a lot of energy in the camp; they’re pretty excited about it,” he adds.
It’s not clear whether this move will affect the city’s injunction to have the tent city cleared away, but the campers hope it will lead to Abbotsford considering a permanent, sanctioned site.
