Ford, Leafs, Cyrus among most-discussed Facebook topics

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Rob Ford may be the world’s most famous crack-smoking, beer-loving, drunk-driving mayor, but he’s only number five on a list of the 10 most-discussed topics on Facebook in Canada in 2013.
Ford just couldn’t beat the special kind of misery faced by Toronto Maple Leaf fans. They vented this year (a lot!), putting the Leafs at number one.
The Harlem Shake was number two, followed by Miley Cyrus’s twerking and acrobatic tongue maneuvers at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The tragedy of the Boston Marathon was the fourth-most discussed topic on Facebook in Canada.
After Ford, the Royal Baby, Justin Trudeau, Lance Armstrong, the Pope and everyone’s favourite guitar-jamming astronaut Chris Hadfield round out the top 10.
Vancouver’s only mention was for Rogers Arena, the most popular “check-in” spot for Canadians on Facebook in 2013.
