Milan Lucic slams hometown Vancouver after apparent attack

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Boston Bruins star from Vancouver says he’s disgusted by the people in his city and he won’t be returning here, other than to play at Rogers Arena.

After Saturday’s Canucks vs Bruins game, Milan Lucic went out to a local bar; there is a video on YouTube of him outside, saying he was punched a few times by someone inside. He says it was an unprovoked attack.

“There was no reason for him to punch me. From this point forward we’re exploring this in a legal manner. That’s as much as I can say about it right now,” he tells Joe Haggerty with Comcast Sportsnet.

But because of the apparent fight, Lucic says has no reason left to try to defend his hometown and the people here, adding he’s disgusted and outraged that it had to come to this.

“That’s one of the worst parts . . . that it’s in my hometown,” he added. “Going back to the spray painting of the church and my grandparents, parents and family getting harassed during the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011, and now it’s escalated to the point where I get attacked for minding my own business.”

“I have no reason left to try and defend my city, and the people of my city. I’m done trying to defend the city I’m from. I’m disgusted and outraged that it had to come to that,” he is quoted as saying.

Other than being at Rogers Arena, he says no one will ever see him downtown ever again.
