Weather hampers search for missing tourist

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – No luck for search crews on the North Shore looking for a missing British tourist last seen in November.

Weather and deep snow meant crews had to call off the search today for 22-year-old Tom Billings around Grouse Mountain.

North Shore Rescue Tim Jones says they are now watching the forecast carefully before deciding when to go out again.

“The plan is to get one good day, sunny day, in the next two weeks to get in with another 12 man team with the avalanche validated dog handler to… search the boulder fields and other areas of Crown [Mountain]. We feel that this is the area that he’s in.”

Jones says they’ve had dozens of calls and emails from people checking the video they’ve posted online that shows the aerial search so far.

Billings was last seen on East Broadway on November 25th.
