VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The decision has been made to call off the search for a missing British tourist.
Crews have spent 1,500 hours looking for Tom Billings and feel they’ve done everything they can to locate the 22-year-old.
Tim Jones with North Shore Rescue says the decision was made during a conference call with police and the British consulate.
He says they’ll still keep their eyes open for a sign of the man who was expected to return to England in early December. “Our team will still monitor the area of Lynn Headwaters during the course of our normal search operations that we will have during the winter. We feel we did a very extensive search.”
Vancouver police say all tips from the public have been checked out and without some credible information the search will not resume.
Billings has not been seen since November 27th.
