Improvements considered to keeping track of flu vaccine

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The high demand for flu shots this season comes amid talks about how to better keep track of the province’s supply.

Health authorities have a good sense of how much of the vaccine is still in the fridge, but keeping track of other providers like pharmacies can be challenging.

Dr. Monika Naus of the BC Centre for Disease Control says the province could use a better system.

“That’s something we’re looking at enhancing in future years. Ideally, it would be great if a provider could log in and update their own information, because the status may change day-to-day.”

While the vaccine is still available, health officials suggest you phone first to make sure your provider still has some left.
