VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The head of the BC Teachers Federation continues to hold out hope he’ll reach a new deal with the province.
Jim Iker says there’s been some progress but the government needs to provide more funding.
“We encourage government to come to the table with a fair and reasonable offer so we can conclude that agreement at the bargaining table. That’s my hope and that’s what we are working towards.”
“Our hope is that government comes to the table with the necessary funding so we can conclude what we consider to be a fair deal for our members and a fair deal which includes better support for our students and more one-on-one time,” he adds.
Iker notes the two sides have some meetings scheduled in February and early March.
