Struggling Canucks continue road trip in Boston

BOSTON (NEWS1130) – The Canucks don’t have much time to reflect on last night’s 2-0 loss to the Red Wings, as they are back in action tonight against the Boston Bruins.

It is game three of five on their road trip that takes them in to the Olympic break.

Roberto Luongo gets the start in net for Vancouver. He made 39 saves for the Canucks in a 6-2 win over Boston on December 14th.

If that first game was any indication, the team’s clearly don’t like each other, with the 2011 Stanley Cup final fresh in everyone’s minds.

Super pest Brad Marchand admits he hates the Canucks.

“I think there is definitely some hatred towards the Canucks. They have it for us. Anytime you’re playing a team and you are on the ice you have to have that feeling. You want to hate the other team. It makes you push a little harder to win that game. It is safe to say you hate every team when you are on the ice.”

Marchand expects the crowd at TD Garden to be very vocal tonight towards Vancouver.

“I think the fans will be really excited about it. We aren’t happy about the way we played against them last game. We need to have a big game and they are big points for our team so we have to make sure we go after them hard.”

Boston is on a bit of a role right now having won five of its last six games.

Raphael Diaz will make his Canucks debut on the blueline tonight. The Swiss defenceman was acquired yesterday in a trade that saw Dale Weise shipped to Montreal.

With injuries mounting for Vancouver, the team has recalled Pascal Pelletier from the Utica Comets. Pelletier has played in one game for the Canucks this season.

Puck drop is at 4 p.m. and the game can be seen on Sportsnet Pacific.
